Art Competition 2020
For several years, the APL committee has been supporting the art competition: «Young Art at the Royal College ».
This competition is for students aged 4-18 years old and the theme 2020 is « MEMORIES ».
Many schools in London are involved in helping pupils to express their artistic skills while raising money for Research into Childhood Cancers.
The concept is simple:
The APL gathers the works and gives them back to the Royal College of Art with all the money raised (£ 2 per participant).
This contribution is entirely donated to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity which specifically allocates these donations to the research of cancer treatment affecting children.
In the last 29 years, Young Art has raised £ 1,1million of which £87000 last year and celebrate in 2020 his 30th Anniversary.
APL representatives will collect the pictures in each school from the 6th to 17th January 2020 (specific terms will be communicated to parents later).
The jury of the competition selects the best artwork that will be exhibited at the prestigious Royal College of Art from 28th April to 1st may 2020.
You can find more details on the website : www.young-art.org.uk
Those, who have not been lucky enough to be awarded by the Royal College of Art, will be the subject of a second internal selection at the APL, by a jury composed of an art teacher and members of the APL committee.
An award ceremony is then held in May in the presence of the high school management.
So all to your pencils, markers or brushes and wake up your creativity!
