La nomination annoncée d’Alexandre Morois à la tête de l’AEFE intervient dans un contexte de fortes inquiétudes pour les familles du réseau. Depuis plusieurs mois, les réformes financières engagées suscitent de nombreuses interrogations sur leurs conséquences concrètes pour les établissements, les personnels, mais aussi pour les parents et les élèves.
Issu du ministère des Affaires étrangères et spécialiste des questions budgétaires, Alexandre Morois arrive avec un profil avant tout financier. Or, pour les familles, l’enjeu aujourd’hui ne peut pas se limiter à une logique comptable. L’école française à l’étranger n’est pas qu’un réseau à équilibrer sur le papier : c’est un service essentiel pour des milliers d’élèves, un cadre éducatif à préserver, et un engagement fort de la France envers ses communautés à l’étranger.
Les parents attendent désormais des garanties claires. La hausse des charges imposées aux établissements, les tensions autour des conventions, ainsi que les incertitudes sur certains dispositifs sociaux ou sur l’organisation du réseau alimentent un climat préoccupant. Nous ne pouvons pas accepter que les ajustements budgétaires se traduisent, à terme, par une augmentation continue des frais de scolarité, une fragilisation des établissements ou une dégradation des conditions d’apprentissage de nos enfants.
La priorité de la nouvelle direction doit être de rétablir la confiance. Cela suppose d’écouter réellement les familles, de dialoguer avec les personnels et les établissements, et de défendre une vision de l’AEFE qui place l’intérêt des élèves au premier plan. Les parents d’élèves seront particulièrement attentifs à ce que les décisions à venir ne soient pas dictées uniquement par des impératifs financiers, mais par une ambition éducative cohérente, durable et accessible.
Dans cette période décisive, notre association restera pleinement mobilisée. Nous continuerons à porter la voix des familles, à demander de la transparence sur les choix engagés, et à défendre une école française à l’étranger ambitieuse, stable et accessible à tous.

For several months now, the financial reforms that have been introduced have raised numerous questions about their concrete consequences for schools, staff, as well as for parents and students.
Coming from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and specializing in budgetary matters, Alexandre Morois arrives with a profile that is, above all, financial in nature. Yet for families, the issue today cannot be reduced to a purely accounting logic. French education abroad is not merely a network to be balanced on paper: it is an essential service for thousands of students, an educational framework that must be preserved, and a strong commitment by France to its communities abroad.
Parents are now expecting clear guarantees. The increase in costs imposed on schools, the tensions surrounding agreements, as well as the uncertainties affecting certain social support measures and the organization of the network, are contributing to a troubling climate. We cannot accept that budgetary adjustments should ultimately result in a steady increase in tuition fees, the weakening of schools, or a deterioration in our children’s learning conditions.
The priority of the new leadership must be to restore trust. This requires genuinely listening to families, engaging in dialogue with staff and schools, and defending a vision of the AEFE that places the interests of students first. Parents will be especially attentive to ensuring that forthcoming decisions are not driven solely by financial imperatives, but by a coherent, sustainable, and accessible educational ambition.
At this crucial moment, our association will remain fully mobilized. We will continue to represent the voice of families, to demand transparency regarding the choices being made, and to defend an ambitious, stable, and accessible French education abroad for all.
