2026–2027 Elections: From Primary School to the Baccalauréat, APL Takes Action at Every Stage
From the first years of primary school through to the Baccalauréat, APL works to ensure that every student benefits from a high-quality, coherent and clearly structured educational pathway.
School safety, the future of bilingual education, careers guidance and continuity into secondary school: throughout 2025–2026, we worked on a wide range of issues, always following the same approach:
listening to families, documenting their needs, proposing solutions and pursuing issues consistently with the relevant stakeholders.
🚸 Making pupils’ everyday journeys safer
At André Malraux, the installation of a safer pedestrian crossing is the result of more than eight years of sustained efforts.
APL supported this issue over the long term, working with the Council and local stakeholders, with the support of the Lycée.
It is a very concrete example of how we work: some issues require time, persistence and many discussions, but sustained action can lead to tangible improvements for pupils and their families.
🌍 MDO & Wix: preparing the future of bilingual education
The announced end of the bilingual partnerships at Marie d’Orliac and Wix in summer 2027 is a major issue for the families concerned.
APL has been working on the post-2027 arrangements since January 2026.
Over recent months, this has involved more than 7 institutional meetings and over 10 hours of identified meetings with the Lycée, AEFE, the French Embassy, our MP and the partners involved.
But representing families starts with listening to them. Two surveys were therefore conducted, with 275 families responding: 147 at MDO and 128 at Wix.
APL also drafted several briefing notes, which were shared with the Lycée, AEFE and the French Embassy, to ensure that families’ expectations were heard and taken into account in preparing the future provision.
Our objective for 2026–2027 is clear: to continue advocating for an ambitious, sustainable and accessible bilingual programme, with genuine continuity into secondary school, while ensuring that its cost remains under control and advocating for priority to be given to families already enrolled at the LFCG.
🎓 Supporting students as they prepare for their future
Ensuring continuity throughout a student’s education also means helping them prepare for what comes next. APL works alongside the Lycée and the CIO on key events dedicated to careers and higher education guidance.
For the Higher Education Forum, APL plays an active role in organising the event with the Lycée, helping to mobilise institutions and speakers, volunteers, logistics and welcoming participants. Depending on the year, the Forum brings together 70 to 95 universities and schools and welcomes around 900 to 1,000 visitors.
For the Careers Forum, APL mobilises its network of parents and professionals and works with the CIO on the organisation of the event. 3 to 5 career areas, each bringing together 6 to 7 professionals, give students the opportunity to discover a variety of professions and career paths and help them think about their future choices.
APL also contributes to the Terminale graduation ceremony by organising a fundraising campaign among families. In 2025, €5,000 was raised from parents and APL contributed an additional €5,000, bringing the total contribution to €10,000. In 2026, the APL-organised fundraiser once again raised €5,000 from families.
From discovering careers and exploring higher education to celebrating the end of Terminale, APL mobilises its network and volunteers to support students throughout their journey.
🎯 In 2026–2027: continuing our work and going further
Our work will continue throughout every stage of students’ education. We will pay particular attention to the quality of teaching, class sizes, teacher cover, students’ working conditions and the responsible use of digital technology.
We will also continue to call for greater clarity and continuity across educational pathways, including languages, subject options, special educational needs, careers guidance and transitions between primary, collège and lycée. Families should be given clear information early enough about the different options available, their admission requirements and where they can lead.
And we will continue to strengthen our involvement in careers and higher education guidance, alongside the CIO and the Lycée teams.
Long-term commitment. Concrete action. Clear priorities for what comes next.
