What will the LFCG’s bilingual/multilingual provision look like from 2027?

Programme structure, the future of the 50/50 bilingual pathway, admission criteria, teacher recruitment, tuition fees, continuity into secondary school… families are looking for clear and concrete answers.

Ahead of the Lycée’s 7 October presentation on the future multilingual provision across its primary schools, the APL has sent the school leadership a summary of the main questions and concerns raised by families over the past few months.

These questions concern families whose children are currently enrolled in LFCG schools, but also Holy Cross and Belleville Wix Academy families affected by the end of the partnerships, particularly those considering the possibility of joining or returning to the LFCG from September 2027.

Among the main topics we have raised (non-exhaustive list):

  • What pathways will be offered across the four LFCG primary schools from September 2027?
  • How will the new 50/50 bilingual provision work in practice? Distribution of French and English, organisation of the school week, curricula, timetables…
  • How will the transition at Marie d’Orliac and Wix be managed following the end of the partnerships? What will this mean for families currently enrolled at the LFCG, Holy Cross or Belleville Wix Academy?
  • What will the admission criteria and priority rules be if demand exceeds the number of places available?
  • What will the tuition fees and financial model for the new provision be?
  • How will the teaching teams be structured, and what will the capacity be for rolling out the new provision?
  • What continuity will be offered at collège and lycée level?
  • Finally, what will the timeline be between now and September 2027, and what will be the next steps for informing and consulting families?

📌 Initial answers from 7 October

The school leadership has confirmed that many of the questions submitted by the APL will be addressed during the presentation. Other matters are still under consideration and will need to be clarified at a later stage.

This meeting will therefore be an important step in understanding the future provision, how it will be implemented and the transition towards the start of the 2027–2028 school year.

👉 The meeting is open to all families interested in the future provision, including those whose children are not currently enrolled at the LFCG.

🇫🇷 🇬🇧 Making the meeting accessible to as many families as possible

The presentation itself will be in French. The school leadership has told us that they will do their best to provide the presentation materials in English.

Questions may be asked in either French or English.

For families joining remotely, it is expected that questions can be submitted via the online chat, subject to technical feasibility and the practical arrangements for the videoconference. Given the large number of participants expected, it will not, however, be possible for those joining remotely to ask questions orally.

🎥 The APL has also asked whether the meeting could be recorded and made available to families who are unable to attend. We are still awaiting confirmation on this point.

💷 Tuition fees and siblings: the APL will continue to advocate for families

For some families, the possibility of joining or returning to the LFCG will also depend on the cost of tuition, particularly where several children from the same family are concerned.

Beyond the future bilingual provision, the APL will therefore continue this year to advocate for keeping tuition fees under control and introducing a scheme to reduce the financial burden for families with several children enrolled at the LFCG.

🔎 What happens next?

The APL will continue to follow this closely. After the meeting, we will review the answers provided, the questions that remain open and the next steps.

Our objective is to ensure that all families concerned have access to clear, practical information so that they can understand the future provision and plan ahead with confidence for September 2027.

The meeting is open to ALL families interested in the future provision, including those whose children are not currently enrolled at the LFCG.
