A Memorable Evening: The First GCSE Ceremony at Our School
On 21st November 2024, a significant milestone in our school’s history was celebrated. For the first time, the British Section, in collaboration with the APL, hosted a special ceremony to honour the students who completed their GCSEs that year. This celebration of academic achievement and personal growth is set to become a cherished tradition in the BS calendar.
The evening kicked off at 6:30 pm, as parents and students arrived, eager to celebrate the accomplishments of the past two years. This ceremony was not just for those continuing their A-Levels at our school - students who had chosen different educational paths were also invited, making the event feel more like a reunion. The warm welcome from the BS team set the tone, and guests were ushered into Salle Iselin, where the atmosphere was filled with energy and anticipation. At 7 pm, Mme Bellus took the stage, offering a heartfelt opening speech. Mr. McNaught followed, addressing the audience with reflections on the BS’s proud history and the significance of the students’ achievements. As the evening unfolded, each student was called up in alphabetical order to receive their certificate. The moment was made even more memorable with a handshake from Mr. McNaught and a photo, creating lasting memories for students and their families.
One parent shared, “There was such excitement in the air! From choosing what to wear to the joy of reconnecting with classmates who had moved on to different schools, the atmosphere was full of happiness. For the students, it wasn’t just a ceremony - it was a chance to reunite with friends and reconnect with teachers who had played an integral role in their journey.”
After the formal ceremony, the celebration continued in the canteen, which had been transformed into a festive space with a generous spread of food and non-alcoholic beverages. The atmosphere was light-hearted and joyful, with a photo booth and fun props adding a playful touch to the evening. What truly made the event special was the way it brought together students, families, teachers, and staff. The opportunity for everyone to mingle, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company made the evening even more unforgettable.
It was a celebration of community, achievement, and the bonds forged over two challenging yet rewarding years. It was a time to create new memories and honour the shared journey of students, parents, and teachers alike.
